Police Reports

Versailles police responded to three vehicle accidents involving injuries, 25 non-injury accidents, three domestic-related complaints and made two arrests.

On April 14 at 7:18 a.m., a Toyota Tundra driven by Joshua M. Perkins, 35, of Frankfort, was westbound in the left lane of I-64 West while a Volkswagen Passat driven by Joseph W. Mefford, 66, of Georgetown, was in the right lane. Mefford said he saw the Tundra drift towards his lane, where it struck his vehicle, swerved left towards the median, swerved right, then overturned, rolling across the westbound lanes into the grass shoulder. Perkins was taken to UK Chandler Hospital. He told police he fell asleep.

On April 17 at 2:08 p.m., a Nissan Maxima driven by Desiree N. Riley, 25, of Frankfort, was following a Chevrolet Impala driven by Jeffrey N. Mason, 33, of Prospect, westbound on the U.S. 60 Bypass approaching Frankfort Street. The driver in the vehicle in front of Mason’s slammed on the brakes, Mason slowed down, and was rear-ended by Riley. Woodford County EMS workers responded to the accident.

On April 21 at 10:22 a.m., a Honda Odyssey driven by Kevin M. Cheser, 45, of 736 Flint Ridge Road, was southbound on South Main Street approaching South Hill Road. A witness said a Honda Accord driven by Kaitlyn L. Grose, 27, of 110 Dan Drive, pulled out from South Hill Road and made a left onto South Main Street in front of a southbound vehicle, crossed into the opposing lane, and struck the Odyssey. A passenger in the Odyssey, Kristen L. Cheser, 43, of the same address, was taken to UK Chandler Hospital. Police say Grose failed to yield and her vehicle was not under proper control.

On April 12, police made an arrest on South Locust Street for DUI.

On April 19, $800 in cash was reported stolen from a home on Troy Pike.

On April 18, two used boat batteries worth $10 apiece were reported stolen on Bunton Road and Bryanwood Drive.

On April 18, a vehicle was reported leaving the scene of an accident on Tyrone Pike.

On April 18, a stolen Toyota Corolla worth $1,500 was reported received on Pisgah Pike at Lexington Road.

On April 18, mail theft involving $10 worth of clonazepam was reported on Dan Drive.

On April 17, harassing communications were reported on Maple Avenue.

On April 17, shoplifting of $96.22 worth of merchandise was reported at Kroger.

On April 16, a handgun was reported stolen from a home on Versailles Road.

Fire Reports

City

Firefighters performed 12 EMS assists during the past week.

On April 17, they responded to an accidental fire alarm on Elm Street, a vehicle accident at the intersection of the U.S. 60 Bypass and Frankfort Street, a fire alarm on North Main Street, smoke on Elm Street and arcing electrical wires on Tyrone Pike.

On April 18, they responded to a reported propane tank in front of the Woodford County Courthouse that turned out to be a helium tank.

On April 19, they responded to a hazardous condition on Lane Circle.

On April 20, they responded to a vehicle accident at the intersection of Douglas Avenue and the U.S. 60 Bypass.

On April 21, they responded to a vehicle accident at the intersection of Big Sink Road and the U.S. 60 Bypass.

On April 23, they responded to an arcing electrical appliance on Angell Avenue. County

On April 17, firefighters installed smoke detectors on Oxford Road and responded to a fire in front of a garage on Winton Road.

On April 19, they responded to a vehicle accident on Paynes Depot Road and a fire inside a barn on Lexington Road.

On April 21, they responded to a smoke alarm on Troy Pike and a grass fire on Ashley Circle.

On April 22, they responded to a vehicle accident on Old Frankfort Pike and a garden tractor on fire on Eagle Crest Drive.
