Esther Louise “Lou” Brooks, 84, of Berlin, Pennsylvania, wife of Clarence Brooks, died Sunday, April 22, 2018, at Siemon’s Lakeview Manor.
Born on Aug. 10, 1933, in Zelienople, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Esther (Schafer) Nye. She was a retired employee of the Somerset State Hospital. She loved baking, sewing, gardening, and animals. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Berlin.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by six children, Martin (Caitlin) Richards, Berea; Nita Richards, Berlin, Pennsylvania; Jessica (Steve) Sorber; Hershey, Pennsylvania; Jan (Jerry) Hurst, Shelbyville; Reata (William) Buffin, Versailles; and Phyllis (Joe) Esenbock, Lexington; five grandchildren, Jamie (Scot) Currie, Nathan Richards, Courtney May, Benjamin Richards and Jessie Richards; and five great-grandchildren, Emma and Brantley May, Carson and Olive Richards, and Peyton Currie. She was preceded in death by two brothers, James and John Nye.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Berlin, by Pastor Nyla Cogan.
