Delaney Enlow verbally commits to University of Louisiana-Lafayette
Woodford County High School sophomore Delaney Enlow has verbally committed to the University of Louisiana-Lafayette to play softball for the Ragin' Cajuns. The slugging first baseman for the Lady Jackets became well known in Woodford County last season for her game-winning home run in the Regional championship win over Scott County. Her career continues to blossom as a sure-
handed corner infielder and at the plate. Enlow has four home runs in the last five games and appears to be poised for a late season explosion at the plate.
Enlow says her dream was to play softball on a big stage against top competition and joining the Rajin' Cajuns makes that dream come true.
“We went on a visit in February and I fell in love with the campus,” said Enlow. “As long as I've played this game, I have wanted to be in a place like that. They are a softball school. Softball has the most fans of any sport on campus and that passion is contagious when you see it in person. The fans even tailgate for the games down there. It just feels like a place where I can grow and become a a better player.”
Enlow said that the decision came down to distance from home and how her parents would be able to watch her career in Louisiana.
“We talked with the coach and my parents were able to figure some things out and I knew that this was the right decision. The athletic facilities down there are amazing and this school loves to produce hitters. I think I can fit in and make a solid contribution to the program when my time comes.”
