WCHS boys' tennis crushes Scott County

The Woodford County High School boys' tennis team won 5-0 over Scott County on Monday, April 30. The Racket Jackets continue to win as the regional tournament approaches on Monday, May 7.

WCHS junior Evan Spradlin won (6-0, 6-2) over Hayate Takeda in the No. 1 singles match. Sophomore Joe Kowalke won (6-4, 6-1) in the No.2 singles match over Josh Williams.

Junior Mason McIntyre and freshman Evan Bentley won (6-0, 6-1) over Paxton Turner and Evan Martin in No. 1 doubles. Junior Ben Ison and freshman Zachary Stiefel won (7-6, 6-2) over Ben Siler and Cameron Rice in the No. 2 doubles match. Senior Eli Smith and eighth-grader Gus Smith won (6-3, 6-1) over Corbin Willoughby and David Rice in the No. 3 doubles match.

The Woodford County High School boys' tennis team beat Sayre 5-2 on Thursday, April 26. Spradlin was defeated by Shane Landis (0-6, 0-6) in the No. 1 singles match. Kowalke won the No. 2 singles match (6-3, 6-1) over Parker Dean and senior Drew Blaydes lost the No. 3 singles match to Tyler Fox (0-6, 3-6). WCHS sophomore Colin Charles won the No. 4 singles match over Nick Harling (8-1). McIntyre and Bentley won the No. 1 doubles match over Theo Taylor and Ashwin Kamineni (6-4, 7-6). Ison and Stiefel won the No. 2 doubles match over Harrison Ward and Sam Levy (3-6, 6-2, 1-0). Eli Smith and Gus Smith won the No.3 doubles match (6-0, 6-0) over Moshin Akhtar and Nick Harling.

The WCHS boys' team won 6-0 over the Franklin County on Wednesday, April 25.

Spradlin won the No. 1 singles match over Nick Lewis (8-1) and McIntyre won the No. 2 singles match over Nathan Bentley (8-0). Charles won (8-0) over Austin Caudle in the No. 3 singles match and Bentley won the No. 4 singles match (8-0) over Nick Lewis. Stiefel and Ison won the No. 1 doubles match (8-0) over Christian Thompson and Afeef Sheik while Kowalke and Smith won the No. 2 doubles match (8-0) over Zach Netherton and Austin Caudle).

Lady Jackets lose to Scott County

The Woodford County High School girls' tennis team lost 1-4 at Scott County High School on Monday, April 30.

WCHS junior Addison Beck lost (4-6, 6-7) in the No. 1 singles match to Megan Moore. WCHS freshman Claire Pinkston lost (0-6, 1-6) in the No. 2 singles match to Raven Jones. Senior Alyssa Feldner and sophomore Nicole Feldner lost (0-6, 0-6) in the No. 1 doubles match to Grace Gardner and Lauren Moore. Junior Allison Miller and sophomore Sophie Wingo lost (1-6, 1-6) to Carlee Denney and Carson Ayres in the No. 2 doubles match. Junior Kassie Cook and sophomore Caroline Miller won (6-3, 6-0) in the No.3 doubles match over Marie Korsgaard and Sarah Bryant.

The Lady Jackets tied Sayre 3-3. Pinkston won the No. 1 singles match over Jade Adams (2-6, 6-0, 1-0). Caroline Miller lost in the No. 2 singles match to Kate Christensen (3-6, 3-6). Cook lost the No. 3 singles match to Ellie Webb (6-3, 3-6, 0-1).

Alyssa Feldner and Nicole Feldner lost the No. 1 doubles match to Caroline Hager and Grace Headley (0-6, 1-6). Wingo and Allison Miller won the No. 2 doubles match over Elise McKinney and Aundrey Kwon (3-6, 6-1, 1-0). Junior Hannah Brady and freshman Katelyn Hamilton won the No. 3 doubles match over Grace Manella and Maha Igbal (9-7).

The Lady Jackets beat the Franklin County Lady Flyers 5-0 on Wednesday, April 25.

Pinkston won the No. 1 singles match (8-1) over Nicole Tomes. Caroline Miller won the No. 2 singles match (9-7) over Lizzie Nolan. Cook won the No. 3 singles match (8-0) over Emine Shinjatari. Alyssa Feldner and Nicole Feldner won the No. 1 doubles match (8-0) over Kelsey Nelson and Sanjanna Rahman. Allison Miller and Wingo won the No.2 doubles match (8-1) over Darbie Browning and Sadie Weaver.
