Lady Jackets win nail-biter over Garrard County

The Lady Jackets beat Garrard County 4-3, on Saturday, May 12. The Lady Jackets built a three-run lead early in the game and held off a furious rally by the Lady Lions in the seventh inning. WCHS sophomore Claire Lehmkuhler pitched seven innings allowing eight hits and three runs. She struck out seven.

In the first inning, WCHS sophomore Delaney Enlow singled to center field to score senior Peyton Rose. Senior Paige Hampton hit an RBI single, and sophomore Abby Moffett stole home to increase the Lady Jacket lead to 3-0.

Moffett hit an RBI single in the top of the fifth to score Lehmkuhler.

GCHS sophomore Kelsi Moss hit a home run in the bottom of the fifth to cut the deficit to three.

The Lady Lions scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh, but Lehmkuhler stopped the rally with a pair of strikeouts to end the game.

Tates Creek

The Lady Jackets dominated the Tates Creek Lady Commodores on senior night in an 11-0 mercy rule victory Friday, May 11. Lehmkuhler pitched four shutout innings, allowing two hits and striking out six. Junior Leaa Cole pitched one scoreless inning allowing one hit.

Enlow had a monster night at the plate. She hit her 10th home run of the season and drove in six runs.

Enlow hit a line drive double in the bottom of the first to drive in three runs and later scored by stealing home.

Rose hit an RBI double in the bottom of the second to score Lehmkuhler and later scored on a Moffett RBI double to make the score 6-0.

Enlow hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning to increase the Woodford lead to 9-0. Cole laid down a perfect bunt to drive in sophomore Kasey Abel, senior Bailee Ramnes hit an RBI single to raise the Lady Jacket lead to 11-0.


The Lady Jackets lost 12-2 to Male High School on Thursday, May 10. The Lady Bulldogs scored nine runs in the third and fourth innings to pull away from Woodford. Lehmkuhler pitched four innings and allowed 11 runs on 11 hits while striking out five. Rose was two-for-three at the plate. Moffett drove in both WCHS runs with a home run.

Franklin Co.

The Lady Jackets won by mercy rule, 12-2, over Franklin County on Tuesday, May 8. WCHS rallied for six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to clinch the win. Lehmkuhler earned the win, pitching five innings allowing four hits and striking out seven.

The Lady Flyers scored a run in the top of the third inning on a fielder's choice, but the Lady Jackets tied the game on three straight singles. Hampton drove in Lehmkuhler and Abel scored Moffett from third on a ground out to second base.

Moffett drove in two runs on a double to left field and later scored on a single by Enlow. Moffett hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth to increase the Woodford lead to 10-2. Enlow singled in the next at-bat, and she scored on Hampton's two-run home run that made the score 12-2, and the game was called.

Moffett led the Lady Jackets with five RBI, and Hampton drove in three. Enlow was four-for-four at the plate, driving in one run.
