Bat Jackets advance to district championship

Frankfort The WCHS baseball team won its district semifinal game, 10-0 over Frankfort. WCHS senior Collin Murray pitched six scoreless innings, striking out 10. WCHS senior Sam Flora hit an RBI single in the bottom of the third to give Woodford a 1-0 lead. WCHS sophomore Skyelar Johnson reached on an error, scoring Flora. WCHS junior Leo Guadagni hit a two-run double to left field to increase the Jackets' lead to 4-0. Guadagni reached on an error in the bottom of the fifth inning, scoring Johnson. WCHS senior Caleb McNeely drove in Guadagni on a sacrifice fly. Flora hit an RBI double in the bottom of the sixth inning to increase Woodford's lead to 9-0. WCHS senior Bryce Sheets walked with the bases loaded to clinch the mercy rule victory. Henry Clay The Bat Jackets concluded their regular season with a 12-5 win over Henry Clay on May 16. The Blue Devils scored three runs in the first inning but were outscored 12-2 for the final six innings. Murray pitched two innings, allowing one earned run. WCHS junior Griffin Blankenship pitched five relief innings. He allowed five hits and struck out four. Flora was two-for-three with two RBI and two stolen bases. Guadagni drove in a pair of runs and added a stolen base.
