WCHS track and field grab eight medals at state championship
WCHS freshman Callie Gormley finished ninth in the girls 100-meter hurdles (17.00), and junior Esther Bradshaw was 12th (17.16). Bradshaw placed fourth in the girls' 300-meter hurdles (46.87), and Gormley was 13th (49.47). Bradshaw, juniors Savannah Karbach and Breanna Willis and senior Makenzie Thomas finished 11th in the girls' 4x200-meter relay (1:49.35). WCHS freshman Kamari Black placed fourth in the girls' triple jump (34 feet, 11-and-three-quarter inches). WCHS sophomore Allison Ferguson was runner-up in the girls' pole vault (11 feet, six inches) and freshman Jillian Elmore finished 20th (eight feet).
The WCHS boys' team finished 12th out of 46 teams. WCHS senior Jai Burgess placed fourth in the boys' 100-meter dash (10.93). WCHS senior Landon Saum placed sixth in the boys' 110-meter hurdles (15.18), and sophomore Justin Lehmkuhler was seventh (15.58). Saum was ninth in the boys' 300-meter hurdles (40.97). Lehmkuhler placed fifth in the boys' high jump (six feet). WCHS senior Jordan Upton placed fourth in the boys' triple jump (43 feet, four inches). WCHS senior Collin Hudson finished 15th in the boys' discus (116 feet, six inches).
WCHS freshman Ali Parker finished 15th in the unified long jump (15 feet, eight inches). WCHS sophomore Ethan Parker and Ali Parker finished 18th in the unified 2x50-meter dash (19.13) Ethan Parker and Ali Parker finished 17th in the unified 2x200-meter dash (1:23.18)
