Health Department Notes
New Kentucky immunization requirements for school entry begin July 1, 2018
An amendment to Kentucky law (902 KAR 2:060 immunization schedules for attending school) added new immunization requirements for the school year beginning July 1.
Changes include the following:
• All students, K-12 grades, must show proof of having received two doses of Hepatitis A vaccine to attend school (doses are administered six months or more apart).
• Students 16 years or older, must show proof of having received two doses of Meningococcal ACWY vaccine to attend school. However, if the first dose of MenACWY was received at age 16 or older, the second dose is not required for school entry.
To meet these requirements, a current Certificate of Immunization Status must be provided to the school showing the date your child received these vaccine(s). All vaccines administered should now be printed on the Commonwealth of Kentucky Certificate of Immunization status form.
Parents are encouraged to see their child’s medical provider or local health department as soon as possible. All students should have an updated and current certificate on file at school before the start of the 2018-19 school year.
