Jean Courtney Nichols, 79, widow of Elmer Nichols, died Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at her home in Georgetown.
Born on May 1, 1939, in Fayette County, she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Betty Crutchfield Courtney. She was employed as a ward clerk for Woodford Memorial Hospital for 30 years and at Cardinal Hill for 14 years.
Survivors include two sons, Troy (Marilyn) Nichols, Georgetown; Donald (Brenda) Nichols, Liberty; three sisters, Pauline (Carl) Weber; Phyllis (Pete) Kyle, both of Nonesuch; Betty (Billy Ray) Tillett, Lexington; a brother, Oliver Wayne (Linda) Courtney, Versailles; two grandchildren, Gregory Scott (Michelle Ann) Nichols, Georgetown; and Britney Paige, Lexington; and two great-grandchildren, Emily Kate Nichols and Natalie Gail Brooke Walsh. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and five siblings, Vernon Courtney Jr., Samuel H. Courtney, Alma Louise Tilton, Mary Francis Shepherd and Vera Mae Craycraft.
Services were conducted on Friday, June 1, at Blackburn and Ward Funeral Home by Troy Nichols. Pallbearers were Larry Price, Greg Nichols, Alex Mattingly, Darrell Courtney, Pete Kyle and Chris Cato. Burial followed at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
