Brooks wins Folkstyle championship

Woodford Wrestling Club competed at the “Rumble at the Resort” Folkstyle Open June 2. The competition was held at Belterra Resort in Indiana and featured 75 teams from across the country. Woodford's Triston Brooks won the High School 170-pound division and all six wrestlers of the Woodford Wrestling club placed. Boys Intermediate 50-55 pounds Brycen Gray placed third and scored 13 team points. Gray received a bye in the quarterfinals and lost a 5-0 decision in the semifinal to Alex Huddleston (Contenders WA). In the consolation round semifinal, Gray pinned Slayder Burkholder (Lynx WC). Gray won by sudden victory over Dawson Feldman (unaffiliated) in the third-place match. Boys Intermediate 87-pounds Braylen Livingston placed third and scored eight team points. In the semifinal, Livingston lost by fall to Porter Kleeberg (Beat Mode Wrestling Academy). Livingston pinned Logan Deitz (Carroll County) in the third-place match. Boys Novice 65-70-pounds Landon Yost placed third and scored 12 team points. Yost lost by technical fall in the quarterfinals to Peyton Richards (Lynx WC) and received a bye in the first consolation round. In the consolation semifinal, Yost won by fall over Joseph Cloud (Franklin Wrestling Club) and earned an 8-2 decision over Kayla Roell (Milan Tribe) in the third match. Boys Novice 112-120-pounds Jeffrey Temprano finished runner-up and scored five team points. Temprano lost by fall to Bryson Mata (Club Madison) in the first round and lost by major decision to Mata in the second round. Schoolboy 128-pounds Harley Graham placed fourth and scored four team points. Graham lost by fall in the semifinal and also the third-place match to Brycen Miniard (Blue Collar Wrestling Club). Boys High School 170-pounds Triston Brooks placed first and scored 22 team points. Brooks received a bye in the quarterfinals and won by fall in the semifinal over Joe Taylor (NLW Kentucky). In the championship match, Brooks won by fall over Nicholas Riddell (Wolfpack wrestling).
