Couple pleads not guilty
The Tennessee couple charged with two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and first-degree criminal abuse of a child (12 or under) pleaded not guilty in Woodford Circuit Court June 6.
Christopher Smith and Crystal Cramer were arrested around 3 a.m. on March 21 at the Speedway on Lexington Road after police discovered their twin six-month-old boys in the backseat of their vehicle. The children were wearing urine-soaked clothing and were surrounded by garbage bags full of clothes, according to police. Cramer was later charged with possession of methamphetamine and promoting contraband after the drug was found in her purse at the Woodford County Detention Center.
Their next court appearance is Aug. 1.
