Herman Swanagan, 84, of Versailles, husband of Dorothy Riddell Swanagan, passed away at home on June 9, 2018, in the loving care of his wife, Hospice Care and his daughters by marriage Hope Selby, Tina (Hugh) Gilbert and Mary Ann Carpenter.

Born Sept. 16, 1933, in Carter County, he was the son of George and Blanche Everman Swanagan. He graduated from Georgetown College.

He retired from Kuhlman Electric and taught math in Anderson County after retirement.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister, Ramona Wilson, Shelbyville; four daughters, Beth (Doug) Harris, Canada; Melissa (Don) Miller, Indiana; Gena (Steve) Frazer, Indiana; and Susanna (Dane) Bjerklie, Michigan; 11 grandchildren, Lynnie, Danny, Elizabeth, David, Justin, Olivia, Thor, Croft, Eisa, Jeremy and granddaughter by marriage, Naomi Ruth; and three great-grandchildren, Ivy Vesper, Juniper Eve and Atticus. He was preceded in death by a son by marriage, Herbert Carpenter Jr. and a baby brother Lowell Thomas.

Burial of his cremains will be Sunday, Sept. 16, at 2 p.m. on his 85th birthday at Sunset Memorial Garden. Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Road, Versailles, is in charge of arrangements.
