Steve Tyler Bland, 51, of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away June 17, 2018, surrounded by his family at WakeMed Hospital.
He was born on Sept. 19, 1966, in Durham County.He was a graduate of North Carolina State University and was a Senior Account Executive for ePlus Group, Inc., a company that he has served for the past 27 years.
Growing up in Versailles, he played high school basketball and studied karate extensively. At North Carolina State, he followed in the footsteps of his father, his uncle, and several cousins, becoming a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon. He maintained an abiding love of his TKE brothers throughout his life.
Although dedicated to his work, he also found time to take his boat out on Kerr Lake in the summers, tinker with his beloved 1993 Mustang, and follow his marksman grandfather’s meticulous calibration notes for ammunition reloading.
A private celebration of his life was held on June 30, at Clancy Strickland Wheeler Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Lux Bland; parents, David and Betty Atkins Bland, Raleigh, N.C.; sister, Dana, (Tim) Cowlishaw, New York, N.Y.; mother-in-law, Mary Lou Lux, Apex, N.C.; sister-in-law, Angela (Guy) Blough, Wendell, N.C.; sister-in-law, Jennifer Wilson, Garner, N.C.; brother-in-law, Jeffrey (Chrissy) Lux, Willow Spring, N.C.; his nieces and nephews, Ruby and Marilyn Cowlishaw, Aaron (Courtney), and Alexandra Blough, and Hunter and Marley Wilson; his beloved German Shepherd, Phoenixxe (Nixxe), and many friends and extended family.
