Former Versailles mayor is council candidate

Former Versailles Mayor Fred Siegelman is one of 12 candidates for the six seats on the Versailles City Council.

The filing deadline for nonpartisan races was Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Two Versailles City Council members are not seeking reelection. Ann Miller is a candidate for Woodford Fiscal Court, while Owen Roberts is retiring after more than 50 years as a Versailles police officer and council member.

In the race for mayor of Versailles, Lisa Johnson will take on incumbent Brian Traugott.

In Midway, incumbent Mayor Grayson Vandegrift will oppose Woodford County Board of Education member Ambrose Wilson IV. (See story on front page.)

The Midway council race features eight candidates for the six seats. Incumbent Steve Simoff is not running for reelection, nor is Johnny Wilson, who said he wouldn’t seek a full term after filling the seat of the late Libby Warfield. Other candidates include incumbents Kaye Nita Gallagher, Sara Hicks, John McDaniel III and Bruce Southworth, and challengers Danielle Doth, John Holloway, Logan Nance and Stacy Thurman.

In the two school board seats on the ballot this year, 2nd District incumbent Karen Brock will be challenged by Allison Richardson. With 5th District incumbent Debby Edelen not seeking reelection, one of three challengers will take that seat: Dani Bradley, Anissa Penn Davis or Robert H. Williams.
