WCHS boys’ golf team struggles at Collins

The Woodford County High School boys' golf team lost 206-177 to Collins High School Wednesday, Aug. 15 at Shebyville Country Club.

WCHS sophomore Jack Browning led the Jackets with a 44 for nine holes. Freshman Cayce Jones shot a 51 and junior Joe Kowalke had a 53. Sophomore Conner Gililland shot a 57 and senior Richard Osborn had a 58.

WCHS senior Grayson Johnson was originally in the lineup but did not play. The Jackets host Franklin County Aug. 23 and travel to Scott County Aug 29 at Cherry Blossom Golf Course.

The Lady Jackets competed in the 18 hole JOY Invitational at Wild Turkey Trace in Lawrenceburg Saturday, Aug. 18. WCHS freshman Mary Peyton Thompson led the way with 100 and senior Rachel Baston had a 101. WCMS eighth-grader Sophie Lester was next with a 106 and senior Morgan Murray fired a 108.

On Tuesday, Aug. 14, the Lady Jackets lost 208-201 to Franklin County at Juniper Hills Golf Course in Frankfort. Baston led the Lady Jackets with a 48 for nine holes and Lester was second with a 49. Thompson fired a 54 and Murray came in with a 57. Reagan Toothaker led the Lady Flyers with a 46 and Jordan Harris had a 49. The Lady Jackets host Scott County on Aug. 23 and face Western Hills at Juniper Hills Aug. 28.
