Robert “Bob” Eugene Atkins, 91, formerly of Versailles, widower of Mary Elizabeth LaFoe Atkins, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2018, at Brooke Knoll Village in Indiana.

Born on Oct. 31, 1929, in Mt Vernon, Illinois, he was the son of the late Elzo D. and Dolla Mae Harmon Atkins. He graduated from high school in 1944, served in the United States Army, and was the former mayor of Burgin.

He is survived by two daughters, Cathy (Kevin Blair) Atkins and Karen (Rick) Wagoner; one son, Joe (Linda) Atkins; a sister, Marilyn LeMond; seven grandchildren, Audrey Atkins, Robbie Atkins, Kevin Atkins, Danny Atkins, Abby Wagoner, Issy Wagoner, Rickey Posey; six great-grandchildren, Derek Cornwell, Belle Keegan, Natalie Atkins, Riley, Ariel and Dreeytdon Posey; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Services were held Tuesday, Sept. 4, at Blackburn and Ward Funeral Home by the Rev. Chris Harper. Burial followed at Rose Crest Cemetery.
