• Microsoft Excel Basics: 6-Part Series, from 2 to 3 p.m., main library. (Adults) Join us for six sessions to learn basic Excel concepts. The classes run Sept. 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, and 20 from 2 to 3 p.m. Participants should be able to use a keyboard and mouse. Attendance at all six sessions is highly encouraged. • What is a Kentuckian? 6:30 p.m., Midway branch. (Adults) The Kentucky Humanities Council presents James Larry Hood with a humorous and informative look at the enduring images Kentuckians and others have of the state. The presentation will touch on Kentucky’s core values of family and home, individualism and community, basketball and horse racing, snake handlers and mega churches, tobacco, whiskey and wine. Kentucky will be presented as the nation’s true borderland and heart. Call 846-4014 to sign up.
