Roberta Marie Spaulding Owens, 81, wife of George Owens, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018.

Born on Aug. 22, 1937, in Louisville, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Irvine and Marie Eisenbeis Spaulding. She was a graduate of Good Shepherd School. She was a retired secretary for the Department of Education and a member of St. Leo Catholic Church.

In addition to her husband of 53 years, George Owens, she is survived by two daughters, Dr. Vicky (Dr. Pat) McGrath, Bowling Green; Dina (Griffin) Johnson, Versailles; three brothers, Leroy (Judi) Spaulding, Edward Spaulding, both of Frankfort; and Charles (Lilly) Spaulding, Hurst, Texas; and six grandchildren, Maggie Beth, Owen and Samuel McGrath, Bowling Green; and Grayson, Abigail and Andersen Johnson, Versailles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Johnson and Lois Burns.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, Sept. 4, at St. Leo Catholic Church by Fr. Miguel Alvizures. Interment followed at Rose Crest Cemetery with her grandchildren serving as pallbearers. Services were entrusted to Blackburn and Ward Funeral Home.
