Woodford County High School students Caryl Lyn Akers and Jensen McMurry were recognized by the Board of Education Monday, Aug. 27, for winning state titles at the Kentucky FFA State Convention in June.

Jensen won first place in the American Institute of Cooperatives Contest, comprised of five oral questions and a written assessment on the American private enterprise system. She earned a scholarship and a free trip to the American Institute of Cooperatives National Conference.

Caryl Lynn won her first place in the Equine Placement Proficiency Contest based on number of hours worked (she’s employed by Blue Willow Farms in Versailles), written responses, progression of responsibilities and overall experience within the equine sector.

Caryl Lyn, who was not present at the board meeting, will now represent Kentucky at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis next month.
