Monday, Sept. 17

• What Are You Reading? Book Group, 12 p.m., Midway branch. (Adults) Broaden your reading horizons. Share your favorite new book and author. Enjoy coffee, a snack and lively discussions. No assigned books. No sign-up necessary.

• Urban Tree Care, 6:30 p.m., main library. (Adults) Few residential trees die of “old age.” Learn how to care for your trees and avoid tree-damaging mistakes with Woodford Co. Extension agent Faye Kuosman. Call 873-5191 to sign up.

Tuesday, Sept. 18

• English Classes/ Clases de inglés, 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m., and 5:30 p.m., main library. (Adults/adultos) Learn English grammar and vocabulary, practice speaking and more. Aprendemos gramática, vocabulario, y conversación en inglés, y mucho más.

• Tai Chi Level One, 10 a.m., main library. (Adults) Practice this elegant and slow-moving martial art in this 6-week class for beginners. Taught by Master Michael McIntosh, 7th degree black belt in Kung Fu. Class size limited. Call 873-5191 to sign up.

• Toddler Tales, 10 a.m., main library. (Ages 2 to 3) Enjoy songs, rhymes, stories and great activities.

• Preschool Stories, 11 a.m., main library. (Ages 4 to 5) Books and more to enhance pre-literacy skills and to have fun.

• Preschool Story Hour, 11 a.m., Midway Branch. (Ages 5 and younger) Children (with a favorite adult) have fun with engaging books, songs and activities as they build their early literacy skills.

• Microsoft Excel Basics: 6-Part Series, from 2 to 3 p.m., main library. (Adults) Join us for six sessions to learn basic Excel concepts. The classes run Sept. 11, 12, 13, 18, 19 and 20 from 2 to 3 p.m. Participants should be able to use a keyboard and mouse. Attendance at all six sessions is highly encouraged. Revisit your youth and color with other adults using wax crayons, colored pencils or markers. Unwind with a cup of tea and use your imagination to create a beautiful picture.

• Writers’ Group, 6:30 p.m., main library. (Adults and teens) Kick-start your imagination with creative writing exercises.

Friday, Sept. 21

• Flash Frozen Ice Cream Party, 6:30 p.m., main library. (Families) Discover the fun side of nitrogen, its ability to freeze things instantly. Taste great ice cream and learn amazing facts from the scientists at Arctic Scoop with a visit from Elsa. Call 873-5191 to sign up for this free event.

• Art-Go-Round, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Midway branch. (Families) Drop in anytime to this mini art festival, which will give families a chance to rotate through stations and participate in different forms of art, including visual art, music, performance art and graphic design.
