WCHS cross country team dominates All-Comers meet

The Woodford County High School cross country team competed in the Bluegrass Invitational at Masterson Station Park Saturday, Sept. 8. Over 2,000 runners from all corners of Kentucky participated in the event. High School girls' 5K (Top 50) The Lady Jackets finished 10th out of 15 teams in the girls' 5K with a average time of 24:17. WCHS freshman Morgan Reynolds finished 27th (22:33.13). High School boys' 5K (Top 50) The Jackets finished 10th out of 23 teams with an average time of 19:55. WCHS senior Abran Santos finished 33rd (18:22.77) and junior Clay Tyhomas was 46th (18:35.32). Junior Varsity 5K (Top 50) WCHS freshman Jerry Creech finished first (19:47.39), James Hawkins was 12th (21:36:89), Jack Shea was 24th (22:27.35), Ryan Hash was 27th (22:39.88) and Jarom Bradshaw was 46th (23:55:13). Middle School girls' 4,000-meter run (Top 50) WCMS finished fifth out of 15 teams with an average time of 18:57. WCMS eighth-grader Eva Kate Probus placed fifth (17:25.17), Maggie Twehues was 10th (17:49.52), Evelyn Hamilton was 36th (19:41.04), Macy Stickel was 43rd (19:51.98) and Larkyn Hewett was 44th (19:52.77). Middle School boys' 4,000-meter run (Top 50) The WCMS boys' finished 11th out of 18 teams with an average time of 19:09. WCMS seventh-grader Landon Wettlaufer finished 24th (16:57.66). All-Comers meet The WCHS cross country team earned victories in both the boys and girls divisions at the Woodford County All Comers meet Tuesday, Sept. 4. Woodford also posted runner-up performances by the girls' middle school and elementary school girls teams. High School girls' 5K (Top 25) The Lady Jackets won the event with an average time of 25:42.28. Esther Bradshaw placed fifth (25:20.60), Katherine Crain was 7th (25:27.97), Abbey Bleuel finished 9th (25:38.24), Morgan Reynolds was 10th (25:43.94) and Caroline Murray was 19th (28:26.89). High School boys' 5K (Top 25) The Jackets won the event with an average time of 20:26.37. Clay Thomas finished first (18:48.23), Abran Santos was runner-up (19:10.31), Colin Charles was 9th (20:59.33, Jackson Moffett was 11th (21:17.09), Justin Lehmkuhler was 14th (21:56.88), Korry Blankenship was 15th (22:09.41), James Hawkins was 16th (22:17.27) and Jerry Creech was 25th (24:08.83). Middle School boys' 4K (Top 25) The Tigers placed fifth with an average time of 18:44.05. Landon Wettlaufer finished 12th (16:23.67). Middle School girls' 4K (Top 25) The Lady Tigers were runner up in the event with an average time of 19:11.28. Eva Kate Probus finished first (17:26.06), Maggie Twehues placed third (17:38.13), Evelyn Hamilton was 8th (18:46.86), Addison Moore was 21st (20:58.86) and Lainey Banks was 22nd (21:06.47). Elementary School girls' 3K (Top 25) Woodford County was runner up with a time of 16:39.77. Macy Stickel was runner-up (13:25.34), Claire Seitz placed fifth (14:26.54), Charla Gormley was 7th (14:53.44), Sara Joy Langdoc was 17th (16:23.89) and Gabby Gampper was 21st (17:08.46). Elementary School boys' 3K (Top 25) Woodford County placed fourth with an average time of 15:32.96. St. Leo School’s Ian Griffin finished 11th (14:14.94), Jay Wells was 15th (14:48.53), Drew Sumner was 18th (14:56.68), Wyatt Shea was 19th (15:05.71) and Kyle Stickel was 21st (15:07.57). Elementary School boys' 2,000-meter run (Top 25) Elijah Crume finished 6th (10:04.93).
