Blackford running for magistrate, 6th district

I am running as a candidate for Magistrate in the 6th District. I am a hometown boy, born and raised here and shaped by Woodford County relationships, education and community experiences. I also am a graduate of Transylvania University and received a master’s degree from EKU. I am married to Nancy Blackford, and we have two adult children, Kimberly and Larry Jr., who is in heaven with Jesus.

I am a retired teacher and coach from Fayette County Public Schools and now serve as a chaplain at the Woodford County Detention Center. For 40 years, I have served as an active member of the community including roles as chairman of WCMMRC, member of the Roots & Heritage planning committee, United Way, SBDM and the Falling Springs Recreation Board.

Serving as a teacher and minister is a humbling experience, yet such a blessing. I find it an honor and privilege to help people reach their potential by listening to their needs, working as a problem solver and acting in partnership with them. That is why I am running for magistrate. I want to work in unity and harmony with constituents in my district and all our citizens and leaders…
