John Holloway for Midway City Council

My wife Patty and I love Midway; it is the best small town anywhere. We moved here seven years ago. I was teaching at UK and she worked at the crime lab in Frankfort, so it only made sense. Our first date was at Wallace Station, and we bought our fixer-upper on Stephens Street four months later. It was a banner year. We both wanted to be involved in the community and volunteered to work on the Fall Festival and later Francisco’s Farm. But three summers ago, we began working on renovating Walter Bradley Park and that has become our passion. Two years ago the city council formed the Park Board, and I was named the (volunteer) park manager. Since then we’ve become even more committed to developing our park to be even more special. The past two years Mayor Vandegrift included funding for the park in his budget request and we’ve been able to accomplish a lot as a result. I want to see that continue. Also, I am a very organized and detail-oriented person (it’s a professor thing) and think that these skills will work well for Midway if I am elected to a council seat.
