WCHS volleyball goes 3-2 at Thoroughbred Smash

The Woodford County High School volleyball team went 3-2 at the Thoroughbred Smash tournament at Lafayette High School. On Saturday, Sept. 22 the Lady Jackets won one game and lost two. Woodford fell to Lafayette 2-1 (24-26, 25-13, 15-7) and to Taylor County (25-12, 25-13), but rebounded and dominated Madison Central (27-25, 25-17). On Friday, Sept. 21, the Lady Jackets were victorious over Walton Verona (17-25, 25-10, 15-9) and Atherton (25-17, 25-15). On Thursday, Sept. 20, the Jackets won 3-1 over Lexington Christian Academy (25-23, 28-30, 25-21, 25-21). "We definitely made some strides in the right direction," said WCHS Coach Meghan Bottom. "The team showed a lot of heart in the first set against Lafayette and in our win against Madison Central. I'm excited to see how they finish the season and perform in districts."
