WCHS cross country impresses at West Jessamine Invitational

The Woodford County High School varsity cross country teams placed fourth at the West Jessamine Chick-Fil-A Invitational Saturday, Sept. 29 at Asbury University. Fifty-one teams competed in 10 divisions at the annual event. Girls' Varsity (Top 50) The Lady Jackets placed fourth with an average time of 23:10. Katie Gatewood finished 13th (22:11.00), Mckenna Hewett was 22nd (23:06.00), Morgan Reynolds was 26th (23:25.00), Esther Bradshaw was 29th (23:35.00), Abbey Bluel was 30th (23:35.00), Katherine Crain was 34th (23:52.00) and Caroline Murray was 48th (24:45.00). Boys' Varsity 5K (Top 50) The Jackets finished fourth with an average time of 18:28. Kyle Holt finished ninth (17:53.00), Abran Santos was 11th (17:57.00), Clay Thomas was 14th (18:07.00), Korry Blankenship was 35th (18:59.00), Jackson Gordon was 44th (19:27.00),and Colin Charles was 49th (19:33.00). JV Boys' 5K (Top 50) The Jackets placed first with a time of 20:32. Jerry Creech finished first (19:36.00), Ryan Hash placed fifth (20:36.00), Jack Shea was sixth (20:42.00), James Hawkins was seventh (20:53.00), Scott Watson was eighth (20:56.00), Colin McGowan was 16th (21:29.00), Jarom Bradshaw was 20th (22:17.00), Nathan Hardee was 27th (22:41.00) and Shaun Lavin was 34th (23:29.00). JV Girls' 5K (Top 50) The Lady Jackets were runner-up with a time of 32:57. Taylor Dotson was runner-up (28:47.00), Isabella Steely was fifth (30:07.00), Ashley Higdon was sixth (31:08.00), Arissa Keith was ninth (34:31.00) and Emily Jetton was 12th (40:13.00). Middle School Girls' 3,200-meter run (Top 50) The Lady Tigers placed third with an average time of 14:13.20. Maggie Twehues was runner-up (13:04.00), Evelyn Hamilton was 19th (14:27.00), Macy Stickel was 22nd (14:48.00), Addison Moore was 40th (15:24.00) and Lainey Banks was 47th (15:49.00). Middle School Boys' 3,200-meter run (Top 50) Landon Wettlaufer was 21st (12:57). Elementary School Boys' 2,500-meter run St. Leo School sixth-grader Ian Griffin finished 41st (11:39.56).
