• Closing Reception for The Illustrated Word, 2 to 4 p.m., main library. (All welcome) Meet some of the Kentucky artists from this traveling show which is inspired by the written word.

• What Are You Reading? Book Group, 12 p.m., Midway branch. (Adults) Broaden your reading horizons. Share your favorite new book and author. Enjoy coffee, a snack and lively discussions. No assigned books No sign-up necessary.

Tuesday, Oct. 23

• English Classes/ Clases de inglés, 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m., and 5:30 p.m., main library. (Adults/adultos) Learn English grammar and vocabulary, practice speaking and more. Aprendemos gramática, vocabulario, y conversación en inglés, y mucho más.

• Toddler Tales, 10 a.m., main library. (Ages 2 to 3) Enjoy songs, rhymes, stories and great activities.

• Preschool Stories, 11 a.m., main library. (Ages 4 to 5) Books and more to enhance pre-literacy skills and to have fun.

• Preschool Story Hour, 11 a.m., Midway Branch. (Ages 5 and younger) Children (with a favorite adult) have fun with engaging books, songs and activities as they build their early literacy skills.

• Art Attack, 3 p.m., Midway branch. (Grades K-4) Draw, trim, glue, paint and create. Join us for a creative art project, a snack and a story.

• Digital Library Sampler, 10 to 11 a.m., main library. (Adults) The library has added even more digital resources. Come learn about the eBooks, audiobooks, music, TV and movies that are now available without having to physically come to the library. Call 873-5191 to sign up.

• Anime Club: Halloween Edition, 4 to 5:30 p.m. (Ages 11 to 18) Watch Halloween-themed anime episodes and participate in our cosplay contest for prizes. Costumes are optional, but highly encouraged. Call 873-5191 to sign up.

• Midway Living History: Historic Churches, 6:30 p.m., Midway branch. (Adults) Join us for a discussion of Midway’s historic churches. • Fourth Friday Storytime, 10:30 a.m., Midway branch. (Ages newborn to 5) Storytime is a great opportunity to introduce children to the library and work on important early literacy skills. Join us the fourth Friday of each month for books, games, music and crafts.

• Ready Kids/Niños Preparados, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., main library. (Families) Fun and educational activities for preschoolers that will help prepare them for school. Sessions in English and Spanish with lunch afterwards. Call 873-5191 to sign up.

• Movie Madness: “Hocus Pocus” (PG), 6 to 8 p.m. (All welcome) The Sanderson sisters have arrived in Schererville once again and are ready to wreak havoc. Feel free to dress up.
