Jessie Louella Crew Sturgeon, 92, widow of Tom Sturgeon Sr., died Friday, Oct. 12, 2018.
Born on May 13, 1926, in Spring Valley, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Wiechers and Audrey Crew. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son, Tom Sturgeon Jr., Versailles; three daughters, Linda (Walter) Eades, Tennessee; Debbie Lafoe, Versailles; and Ruth (Kevin) Martin, Frankfort; five sisters, Dorothy Crew, Ohio; Katie Crew, Ohio; Leahrey Smithson, Ohio; Betty Smithson, California; and Reva Eades, Ohio; a brother, Johnny Crew, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Elsroth, Alberta Peters, Martha Crew, Marianne Jones and Barbara Crew; and two grandchildren.
Services were held Wednesday, Oct. 17, at New Hope Baptist Church, by the Rev. Mark Sims. Casket bearers were Justin Woodson, Josh LaFoe, Tom Sturgeon III, Walter Eades, Kevin Martin, Kevin “Bubba” Martin and Tom Sturgeon Jr. Honorary casket bearer was Brent Sturgeon. Burial followed at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Clark Legacy Center, Rose Hill, handled arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Woodford Humane Society or Hospice of the Bluegrass.
