Lexington woman dies in Monday crash

A two-vehicle crash around noon yesterday on Lexington Road claimed the life of a Lexington woman and tied up eastbound traffic for four hours while Versailles police reconstructed the accident.

Deputy Woodford County Coroner Greg Gilliam said Amanda Lane, 32, was killed when her 1999 Chevrolet Malibu struck a pick-up truck at the intersection of Lexington and Shannon Run roads. Versailles Police Department Lt. Michael Fortney said Lane was eastbound on Lexington Road and the truck was attempting to turn left from Lexington Road onto Shannon Run Road.

Gilliam said the airbag in Lane’s car was not working and that she was not wearing a seatbelt. Two occupants in the truck were taken to an area hospital. Neither Gilliam nor Fortney knew the extent of their injuries. Fortney said the accident remains under investigation.
