WCMS wrestling finishes 14th at Mustang Brawl

The Woodford County Middle School wrestling team kicked off its wrestling season with a 14th place finish at the Mustang Brawl in Lawrenceburg. Woodford Wrestling club also competed and finished 15th. Hundreds of fans packed the two gymnasiums at Anderson County Middle School for the season opener.

WCMS 70-pounds Caleb Rogers was 2-2 and scored seven team points. Rogers won by fall over Kayden Durham (Taylor County) in 38 seconds and won by fall again over Wesley Keeling (Shamrocks) in 12 seconds. 75-pounds Landon Wettlaufer was 4-3 in the tournament and placed sixth. He won by fall over both Peyton Harrison (Taylor County) and Zayr`Eon Ferguson (Shamrocks). Wettlaufer won by major decision over Annaka Nydam (Anderson County) and by decision over Elijah Council (Woodland). 80-pounds Gavin Asch went 0-2 in the tournament. 86-pounds Aiden Slugantz was 2-2 in the tournament. He won by fall over Cleveland Russell (Anderson County) and again by fall over Abram Miller (Woodland). 98-pounds Gabriel Burden was 3-1 and placed second. He won by fall over Jaden Salsman (Larue County) and then pinned Tyler Fante (East Oldham). In the semifinal, Burden won by fall over Hunter Isaacs (Walton Verona). In the final, Burden lost by fall to Leland Reeves (Taylor County). 98-pounds Griffin Sutterlin was 0-2 in the tournament. 105-pounds Cooper Ford was 0-2 in the tournament. 113-pounds Aiden Zaparanick-Brown was 1-2 in the tournament and scored two points. His lone win was a major decision over Ethan Caldwell (Anderson County). 121-pounds Delano Mullins was 3-3 for the tournament and placed sixth. He scored 13 team points. Mullins won by fall over Bradley Laughner (Larue County), by fall over Avery McAnelly (Taylor County) and by fall over Rylan Dykes (Scott County). 140-pounds Cody Simpson was 0-2 in the tournament. Harley Graham was 1-2 and scored three team points. His victory came by forfeit over Joey Berkeley (Walton Verona). Anthony Tilley was 0-2 in the tournament. 152-pounds Chaz Stout was 0-2 in the tournament. 190-pounds Noah Floyd was 2-2 in the tournament. He placed fifth and scored 13 team points. Floyd won by fall over Raelyn Hillard (Taylor County) and won by fall in the fifth-place match over Tim Reed (Scott County). 240-pounds Jonathan Garcia was 0-2 in the tournament.

70-pounds Brycen Gray went 1-2 on the day. His victory came by fall over Camden Finn (Taylor County) in 24 seconds. He scored four team points. 75-pounds Dylan Hurt went 1-2 in the tournament. He won by forfeit over Anderson County's Gavin Jones and scored three team points. 80-pounds Will Seitz went 0-2 in the event. 86-pounds Landon Yost went 1-2 in the tournament. He won by forfeit over Anderson County's Logan Jones and scored three team points. 92-pounds Dakota Tipton was 0-2 in the event. 190-pounds Destivin Franklin was 0-2 in the tournament.
