Tigers lose a heartbreaker to McNabb, 47-42
The Woodford County Middle School eighth-grade boys' basketball team faded down the stretch in a 47-42 overtime loss to McNabb Monday, Dec. 3. The Tigers held a double-digit lead with two minutes remaining in regulation, but the Indians put up a furious rally and sent the game to overtime and eventually won. The Tigers held a 11-6 lead after one quarter. Brandon Rankin was superb in the opening quarter, scoring nine points including one basket from long range. Taylor Penn drained five free throws in the second quarter. Woodford took a five point lead into halftime. Alex Owens dominated the third quarter, scoring nine points and grabbing a handful of rebounds. The Tigers offense stalled in the fourth quarter. Rankin drained a three-pointer in overtime but the Tigers could not overcome the Indians' momentum down the stretch. Owens led the tigers with 15 points and Rankin added 14. Georgetown The WCMS eighth-grade basketball team fell to Georgetown 47-37 Nov. 26. The Tigers were led by Dakota Hobbs and Rankin who each scored 12 points. Tyler Doyle added 11. Seventh Grade McNabb The WCMS seventh-grade boys' basketball team crushed McNabb 50-26 Dec. 3. The Tigers outscored the Indians 26-4 in the third quarter to seal the win. Doyle led all scorers with 14 points. Collin kemp scored eight points and Sawyer Gribble and Taylor Penn each added six. Georgetown The WCMS seventh-grade boys' basketball team beat Georgetown, 57-32, Nov. 26. The Tigers pulled away in the second and third quarters, outscoring Georgetown 32-12. Doyle scored 14 points and Ethan Johnson and Collin Kemp each added seven. Sixth Grade McNabb The WCMS sixth-grade boys' basketball team won ,25-23, over McNabb Dec. 3. Landon Heim and Nolan Asher led the Tigers with eight points each. Georgetown The Tigers lost to Georgetown, 47-28, Nov. 26. Jonah Branham scored 13 points to lead the Tigers. Nolan Asher scored nine points and Jackson Gray added five.
