Jack C. Wallace, 83, husband of Carolyn Cooper Wallace, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2018, at Thompson-Hood Medical Center.
Born on Dec. 27, 1935, in Quinton, he was the son of the late Theola Jane Mayfield Wallace and John William Wallace. He grew up in Danville and resided in Versailles for 49 years. He graduated from Danville High School and earned a B.S. degree from Eastern Kentucky University. He was a veteran of the United States Army and he retired from Aviation Construction Inc. (ACI) as a project manager. He was a long-time member of the Versailles United Methodist Church where he served as a coordinator of the ushers for many years and was a trustee.
In addition to his wife of 61 years, he is survived by a daughter, Margaret “Meg” Jane (Wayne) Wallace Hampton, Spring Hill, Tennessee; a son, John Matthew (Sally) Wallace, Crozet, Virginia; five grandchildren, Caroline, Michael, and Jacob Hampton; Will and Kate Wallace; three sisters-in-laws, Debra Ann Ellis, Vivian Cooper and Bev Wallace; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael C. Wallace; a brother, Billy Joe Wallace; and a sister, Wilma Wallace Jackson.
Services were conducted Wednesday, Jan. 2, at Versailles United Methodist Church. Pallbearers were Bill Barker, E.G. Plummer, Harold Cunningham, Dave Delnay, Ed Parsons and Lynn Glass. Honorary pallbearers were his Monday night poker group. Interment followed at Rose Crest Cemetery.
