Leoda Short Lunsford, 95, widow of Virgil A. Lunsford, formerly of Woodford County, passed away Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019, at her home.

Born on Oct. 10, 1923, in Madison County, she was the daughter of the late June Willie and Ina Relliford Short. She was a retired employee of Texas Instruments and later worked as a greeter at the Walmart in Lawrenceburg. She was a member of the Church of God and enjoyed crocheting, word puzzles and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by four children, Clyde (Diane) Lunsford, Versailles; Ruby J. Brown, Richmond; Ruth (Donnie) Carter and Ricky (Nancy) Lunsford, both of Lawrenceburg; 25 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Allene Shanks; and a brother, Jesse (Nancy) Short, both of Richmond. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth Lunsford and Harley Darrell Lunsford; and five siblings, Carl, Orval, Allen, Edgar and Sarah.

Services were held Wednesday, Feb. 27, at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home, Lawrenceburg, with her son-in-law, Bro. Don Carter, officiating. Burial followed in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Frankfort. Pallbearers were Paul Lunsford, Kenneth Lunsford Jr., Mike Carter, Virgil Wesley Lunsford, Brian Lunsford, Bobby Coomer, John Coulter and Jesse Gritton. Honorary pallbearers were Jesse Short, Bennie Higgs and Jim Mollett.
