William Lewis Hartley Jr., 71, husband of Pamela Hartley, died Friday, March 8, 2019, at Dover Manor Nursing Home in Georgetown.
Born on Aug. 19, 1947, in Versailles, he was the son of the late Henrietta Stevens and William Hartley Sr. He served as a sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a retired police officer with the Lexington-Fayette County Government and was a member of Troy Presbyterian Church, Anderson County Sportsman Club and the Fraternal Order of Police.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Lewis Ray Hartley, Versailles; two half-sisters, Brenda (James) Hartley Simpson, Pleasureville; and Rita (Brian) Kay Hartley Jones, Columbus, Ohio; two half-brothers, Richard (Millie) Hartley, Versailles; and Richard Morrill, Rangely, Colorado; stepmother, Ethel Hartley; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a half-brother, Robert J. Hartley.
Services were conducted Wednesday, March 13, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home by Officer Donovan Stewart. Pallbearers were Austin Hensley, Jimmy Cross, Robert Hartley, John Ockerman, Justin Plant, Kevin Hobbs and Chris Hall. Honorary pallbearers were Ben Hartley and Adam Creech. Burial with military honors followed at Blue Grass Memorial Gardens.
