Howard C. Campbell Jr., 71, (affectionately known as Butch), husband of Carolyn Williams Campbell, entered into eternal rest on Monday, March 11, 2019, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lexington. Butch, born on Jan. 29, 1948, was the son of the late Howard and Julia Campbell of Versailles. Butch attended Woodford County High School and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Versailles. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, neighbor and friend. Butch leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 43 years, Carolyn; one son, Orenthal “Bootsy” (Velma) Campbell, Morehead; one daughter, Myron Campbell, Louisville; four stepchildren, George Williams; Mary Ann (Stephen) Douglas, Radcliff; Wesley Howard, Lexington; and John Micheal Howard, Lawrenceburg; 22 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. In addition, Butch is survived by eight sisters, Mary Wilmont, Susan (Sherman) Russell, Cincinnati, Ohio; Vivian (Kem) Offutt, Bowling Green; Valarie (Elijah) Campbell-Clark, Odenton, Maryland; Linda (Kenneth) Winkfield, Myrtle, Georgia, and Marilyn Campbell, all of Versailles; and three brothers, William “Twetty” (Cathy), Calvin (Melanie), and Darryl (Paula) Campbell, Versailles. He is also survived by a host of other relatives (uncle, aunts, nieces/nephews, cousins) and friends. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Ross Campbell; and a brother, Wayne A. Campbell.
