WCHS tennis takes on Scott County, Eminence

WCHS Tennis traveled to take on Scott County last Monday and Eminence on Friday evening. The Yellow Jackets continued their strong season, with the girls tying against Scott and the boys pulling off the win 4-2. Both the boys and girls dominated against Eminence, both winning 5-0.

Woodford’s No. 1 singles player Gus Smith won the first set 6-1 over Cameron Rice. Rice was able to come back in the second set with a score of 6-2 to force a third set. Smith was able hang tough to come out 10-6 winning the tie-breaker. Joe Kowalke was strong against Ben Siler with a 6-1, 6-1 victory in No. 2 singles. Evan Bentley and Mason McIntyre showed how strong they were again this season, winning convincingly 6-0, 6-0 in No. 1 doubles. Zachary Stiefel and Ben Ison won 6-1, 6-3 against Yo Kamagal and Nick Grissan in No. 2 doubles. Robert Sunseri lost to Beckham Singer 6-4, 6-4 in No. 3 doubles. Colin Charles and Nick Ruzzene lost to Hayate Takeda and Paxton Turner in No. 3 doubles, 6-4, 6-2. The Lady Jackets couldn’t seal the deal to pull out the win, and instead had to settle for a 3-3 tie against the Lady Cards. Addison Beck lost to Megan Moole 6-0, 6-2 in No. 1 singles. Claire Pinkston lost to Raven Jones 6-1, 6-2 in No. 2 singles. Nicole Felder and Sophie Wingo lost 6-1, 6-0 to Oliva Gallagher and Grace Gardner in No. 1 doubles. Caroline and Allison Miller won No. 2 doubles against Sarah Bryant and Gracie Swiegood, 6-1, 6-0. Chiara Heidenreich won against Carson Ayres 6-4, 7-5 in No. 3 singles. Addie Patterson and Hannah Brady won over Caroline Richardson and Audrey King 6-1, 6-1. The Racket Jackets faced Region 8 opponent Eminence, and dominated with Gus Smith winning 6-1, 6-0 over Keaten Fennick in No. 1 singles. Joe Kowalke scored the win over Hunter Gibson in No. 2 singles 6-0, 6-0. Evan Bentley and Mason McIntyre defeated Mason Ford and Silvestre Reza in No. 1 doubles 6-0, 6-0. No. 2 doubles Zachary Stiefel and Ben Ison won 6-1, 6-0 over John Cooper and Asher Smith. No. 3 doubles Robert Sunseri and Colin Charles beat Broc Weavee Jonathan Zarcillo, 6-0, 6-1.

The Lady Jackets enjoyed success as well with Claire Pinkston winning over Alyssa Harger in No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-0. No. 2 singles player Chiara Heidenreich won over Skylar Noyes 6-0, 6-0. No. 1 doubles team Nicole Feldner and Sophie Wingo beat Alyssa Harger and Skylar Noyes 8-0. No. 2 doubles players Allison Miller and Chiara Heidenreich beat Trinity Frazier and Raina Ferguson 6-0, 6-0. No. 3 singles player Hannah Brody beat Sofia Luchini 6-0.
