Amended conditional-use permit for kennel approved

The Board of Adjustment approved an amended conditional-use permit Monday that relocates the kennel facility for “Charry’s Premier K9 Training” at 4125 West Leestown Road.

Attorneys for the property owner seeking the permit (Carlos and Evelyn Charry) and a neighboring property owner (David Phillips) told board members that they had come to an agreement to relocate the kennel facility to the northeast corner of the property – no closer than 400 feet to the right-of-way of West Leestown Road.

That was a compromise reached by the property owners after an original conditional-use permit approved by the board last year showed the kennel in the northwest corner of the 35.466-acre property at 4125 West Leestown Road.

The board approved the amended permit by a 3 to 0 vote, with 18 conditions. Board members Fred Powers and Frank Stark were absent.

Variance approved

The board approved side-yard variances allowing Olivier and Rikkie Gayou to construct an attached garage at 328 Amsden Avenue. No one spoke in opposition to the request, approved by a 3 to 0 vote.
