Lady Jackets go 3-0 at Cal Ripken Experience
The Lady Jacket softball team traveled to Myrtle Beach over spring break to participate in the Cal Ripken Experience. The Lady Jackets proved just how dominate they are, not allowing a single run on them over the course of three games, beating Monsignor Bonnor (18-0), Middlesboro (10-0) and Boyd County (10-0).
Woodford County had a big inning in the fourth against Monsignor Bonnor, scoring eight runs. Kelsey Coleman, Kasey Abel, Abby Moffett and Taylor Sallee each had RBI in the frame. Emily Hestand was impressive in the win over MBPA driving in five runs. Claire Lehmkuhler was the winning pitcher for the Lady Jackets, going three innings allowing no hits and no runs while striking out six and walking none. Elizabeth Edwards threw one inning of relief. Moffett and Sallee each had homeruns to help put MBPA away, 18-0.
Woodford County then moved on to take on Middlesboro. And it was another shutout with the Lady Jackets winning 10-0 thanks in part to a big second inning, scoring five runs. Lehmkuhler, Abel, Moffett and Sallee each had RBI in the second. Woodford County had a total of 15 hits in the game. Lehmkuhler, Moffett, Abel, Delaney Enlow and Coleman each had multiple hits. Edwards was the winning pitcher for Woodford County, allowing no hits and no runs over three innings. She also struck out seven. Lehmkuhler threw yet another shutout for Woodford County in the 10-0 win over Boyd County. She threw all five innings allowing two hits and no runs, while striking out eight.
Again Woodford County picked things up in the fourth inning, with Enlow and Coleman knocking in runs to make it 9-0. Moffett singled in the bottom of the fifth to allow Lehmkuhler to score and put the game away, 10-0.
