Sallee helps lead Lady Jackets past Western Hills, 11-1
Frankfort – Taylor Sallee had a big game on April 17, tallying five RBI to lead the team in an 11-1 beat down over Western Hills.
Woodford County spent the first two innings playing catch up to Western Hills, when the Lady Wolverines scored on a single by Kellen Kilgore to make it 1-0 in the bottom of the first. The Lady Jackets turned the tide in the top of the third inning, with Sallee doubling on a line drive to center field, allowing Leea Cole to score to tie things up. Abby Moffett singled on a ground ball allowing Sallee to score to give Woodford County the lead, 2-1. Woodford County was able to bust the game open in the top of the fifth inning when Moffett hit a home run to make it 3-1. Shortly after, Emily Hestand homered scoring Kasey Abel to make it 5-1. The offense continued to click heading into the top of the sixth inning when Coleman singled on a line drive allowing Cole to score. Moffett made a big hit to right field, allowing the courtesy runner Jocelynn Edwards to score, making it 7-1. Sallee put the nail in the coffin in the top of the seventh inning with a home run to score Hestand, Claire Lehmkuhler and Cole to give the Lady Jackets a 11-1 win. Lehmkuhler was once again excellent in the circle, giving up just one run on five hits over six innings while striking out seven.
Woodford County totaled 17 hits. Hestand, Cole, Tatum Wimberly, Moffett, Sallee, Abel and Coleman all had multiple hits. Hestand and Cole led the team with three hits each.
