4-H/Youth Development

Summer means summertime fun! As May is winding down and June quickly approaches, it’s time to start thinking about fun and educational ways to spend those hot days of summer. While the pool is fun and there are a ton of camp opportunities, Woodford County 4-H is gearing up for another fun summer of our Summertime Fun Project Days! Woodford County 4-H Summertime Fun Project Days begin in June and offer a variety of topical classes that youth can take to learn skills and create projects that they can keep and, if they so choose, enter into the Woodford County 4-H Expo. Projects submitted at the Woodford County 4-H Expo will each earn a ribbon and a small cash premium and those deemed class champions will go on to compete against other 4-H youth projects at the Kentucky State Fair in Louisville during the latter part of August! This year Woodford County 4-H has kept several of the popular project days while also adding on some new and exciting offerings. As the Kentucky State Fair project book is changing and adapting, Woodford County 4-H has done the same. Listed below are the project days offered this summer: • Painting • Plant Camp • Sewing Camp • Photography • Sculpting • Upcycling • Cartooning • Home Environment • Kitchen Boot Camp Each Project Day results in a take-home project to keep for each participant and varies in price due to supplies. For more information, please email ryan.farley@uky.edu or call the Woodford County Extension Office at (859) 873-4601. Sign-ups are available now, space is limited for each project day and all registrations are due one week prior to the corresponding project day. All project days, unless noted otherwise, are for 4-H aged youth (must have turned nine before Jan. 1, 2019).
