Trial date for couple charged with child abuse
A couple charged with two counts of child abuse for allegedly leaving their twin infants in a cold, urine-soaked clothing in the back seat of their car in March 2018 are scheduled to face those and other charges at a jury trial next April 28-30 in Woodford Circuit Court. Crystal Gail Cramer, 34, of Nashville, faces two counts of first-degree child abuse, two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree possession of a controlled substance and first-degree promoting contraband. Christopher Smith, 36, of Ashland, also faces two counts of first-degree child abuse and two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment. According to Versailles Police, Cramer and Smith were arrested around 3 a.m. on March 21, 2018 at the Speedway on Lexington Road after police discovered the twin six-month-old boys in the backseat of their vehicle. The children were wearing urine-soaked clothing and surrounded by garbage bags full of clothes, according to police.
