Burl Douglas Bowling 65, died Tuesday, June 18, 2019, in London, Kentucky. Born on April 11, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of Zelma Grubb Bowling and the late Burl Bowling. Doug was an independent truck driver for 47 years. He was known nationwide by fellow truckers as “Screamin’ Demon.” He loved his semi-trucks and would say “If it don’t shine, it ain’t mine.” He was an avid Harley Davidson rider and a 1972 graduate of Jessamine County High School. Doug will be lovingly remembered by his sweetheart, Gerry Darling; one daughter, Traci Ackerman; one brother,Jeff (Lou Ann) Bowling; two sisters, Susan (Russ) Baker and Dee Dee Polsgrove; two grandchildren, Vivian Collinsworth and Morgan Ackerman; three great-grandchildren, Alexandria Kholer, Lorenzo Collinsworth and Niklaus Collinsworth. He was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Clay Bowling. Services were held Friday, June 21, at Betts & West Funeral Home in Nicholasville. Pallbearers were Ryan Baker, Steve Dobbs, Eric Mink, Barry Price, Scott Stover and Joe Wright. Interment followed at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens.
