Revised permit for church, daycare approved

The Board of Adjustment voted unanimously Monday to approve an amended conditional-use permit issued to The Journey Ministries, Inc. for a church and daycare center at 1000 McKinney Avenue in the Midway Station industrial park, located north of the I-64 interchange. The amended permit will allow a consolidation of a 3.223-acre lot with 12.88 acres to create a 16-acre lot for a planned 35,000 square-foot church with a childcare center and space for retail uses such as a doughnut and coffee shop, according to information given to the board. In another matter, an administrative review of a variance for 2325 Paynes Mill Road was not necessary after James A. Frazier complied with a restriction that a garage cannot be used as a dwelling, Planning Director Pattie Wilson told the board.
