Permit allows High Street B&B to host weddings, events
The Board of Adjustment voted unanimously Monday to approve an amended conditional-use permit so Dee Dee Lloyd can host weddings and other events at her bed and breakfast at 241 High Street. The permit allows Lloyd to host up to 20 events annually, with up to 300 guests per event. She pointed out that a long driveway negates any potential of cars backing up onto High Street. Two-hundred-fifty people attended a family friend’s wedding on the near 26-acre High Street property in July, and that did not cause any congestion issues for guests, Lloyd said. “You never felt like you were crowded,” she added, “so I felt comfortable requesting (a permit for) up to 300” guests. The board approved a permit allowing Lloyd to operate a three-room bed and breakfast in 2015. Members of the bridal party will be able to use the front of the main residence (the same area used by B&B guests) to prepare for weddings. Other conditions of the permit include no on-site cooking for an event, lighting will be directed downward and portable bathrooms will be provided.
