Patricia Ann Lafoe Ward, 85, wife of James Ward, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. Born on Dec. 20, 1933, in Versailles, she was the daughter of the late Allen Beckham Lafoe and Mary Bell Shouse Lafoe. She graduated from Versailles High School in 1952. For over 20 years, she owned and operated Ward’s Bakery. She was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church. In addition to her husband of 66 years, she is survived by three sons, Mike (Renee) Ward, Versailles; Tom Ward, Lexington; and James (Malinda) Ward, Florida; two sisters, Della Rose, Versailles; and Teresa Chadwell, Lexington; two brothers, Brad (Christine) Lafoe and David (Pam) Lafoe, both of Versailles; six grandchildren, Lauren Ward, Chelsey Ward, Anna Ward, Taylor Ward, John Hunt and Travis Hunt; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Elizabeth F. Lafoe; a brother, Allen Lafoe Jr.; and two sisters, Emma Howe and Mary Atkins. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, Sept. 11, at St. Leo Catholic Church by Fr. Dan Noll and Fr. Chris Clay. Pallbearers were Ben Hall, Rob Volpenheim, Tony Lafoe, B.J. Hall-Volpenheim, Will Volpenheim and Martin Rodriguez-Hallahan. Interment followed in Rose Crest Cemetery.
