University of Kentucky John P. Hoben, of Versailles, graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Doctor of Philosophy with a major in Chemistry. His dissertation was “Anaerobic in situ Detection of Netroreductase Reaction Products, and the Cloning and Partial Characterization of a Thermophilic Hoomologue from Thermus Thermophilus.” The University of Kentucky welcomed the largest incoming class in its history, comprised of 5,396 incoming freshmen, who began their college career the fall 2019 semester. The following students from Woodford County are part of the 1,661 incoming freshmen in UK’s College of Arts and Sciences. Local students include: Psychology: Tristen Turpin, Alexander Senters, Valencia Bybee and Ashley Spears. Philosophy: Mason Mcintrye. Biology: Madeline Gatewood, Amber Kling, Alexis Jetton, Grace Ison, Isabella Birch, William Hoffman, Taylor Holbrook, Merideth Mullin, Stanislava Spasova and Sarah Johnson. Chemistry: Wesley Forte. Undeclared/Exploratory Studies in AS: Ariana Disciplina, Alexander Morgan and Sophia Caloca. Modern & Classical Lang. Lit & Cultures: Yuni Wolf. Political Science: Allison Johnson. History: Abigail Mortell and Mackenzie Plata-Madrid. Spanish: Jasmine Collins.
