Margarette Dee Semones, 93, widow of John William “Big Daddy” Semones, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020, at home in Lawrenceburg. Born on Nov. 30, 1926, in Jessamine County, she was the daughter of the late George Everette and Mable Sparks Hager. She was a graduate of Nicholasville High School and a member of Versailles United Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Donna Seeberger, Lawrenceburg; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Semones, Versailles; a sister-in-law, Alice Hager, Nicholasville; two grandchildren, Bill (Hannah) Semones and Kelli (Michael) Firquin, both of Versailles; a great-grandchild, Quinn Semones; five nieces and a nephew. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, John W. Semones II and a brother, G.W. Hager. Services were Saturday, Jan. 4, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home, by Dr. Tim Crook. Pallbearers were Bill Semones, Michael Firquin, Bobby Curtsinger, Jeff Semones, Steve Hogg and Wayne Sills. Honorary pallbearers were Edith Hogg, Della Rose, Emily Curtsinger, Rita Kirtley and Billy and Etta Mae Sills. Interment followed in Versailles Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Versailles United Methodist Church, 230 Paynes Mill Road, Versailles, Ky. 40383.
