Society to highlight recent book publication

Tonight, at its Jan. 23 meeting, the Woodford County Historical Society will present a Powerpoint program featuring 20 of the 181 black and white photos in the Society’s new book, “Woodford County.” This 6.5” by 9.5” softcover book is an addition to Arcadia Publishing Company’s “Image of America.” The meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. at the Society’s fa­cility, 121 Rose Hill Avenue. “Woodford County” has nine chapters with text and the noted photos. Chapter titles include Community, Education, Interesting People, Churches, Trans­portation, Business Establishments, Daily Life, Distinctive Dwellings and Farms, Distilleries and Other Industries, and cover their subjects’ histories up to 1950. Sales for this book began Jan. 21 at the Society’s facility and they will be available for purchase at this meeting. The Society’s normal hours of operation are 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. If purchased at the facility, the cost is $23.95 by cash, check or money order. If ordering by mail, there is an additional $3 per book fee for shipping and handling. You may contact the Society at 859-873-6786 and leave a message during non-operating hours.
