Ask an Officer
Question: Seems like an ever-increasing number of drivers rarely, if ever, use their turn signals. Is this against the law? If so, what can be done about it? Answer: The failure to signal a turn in a motor vehicle is in fact against the law. The use of turn signals is not optional and is required for the safety of drivers and pedestrians alike. The law states motor vehicle drivers shall continuously signal their intention to turn for not less than 100 feet before the turn. Officers who observe such violations will address the offending driver and will either give a warning or issue a citation.
