Letters to the Editor

Magical thinking on new high school Editor, The Sun: The fact that Woodford County Board of Education (BOE) Chair Debby Edelen thinks that she doesn’t have enough information to move to un-restrict funds for the new high school is concerning. We might need to elect new members to the BOE who are not prone to magical thinking and can understand at least a little bit of the gravity of the economic constraints that are going to make our state budget’s pension problems seem like a mild headache. Miriam Tucker Woodford County Adopt a WCHS Senior Editor, The Sun: We love our graduating Seniors! During this unprecedented time, a group of volunteers is organizing a campaign to let our graduating seniors from Woodford County High School know that despite the postponement of prom, graduation, and outright cancellation of their final days in high school, they are special and we want to help them celebrate their achievements earned over the last four years! Kimberly Hudson and Veronica Parker, in cooperation with WCPS, The Woodford Educational Endowment Foundation, and The LoveBIG Foundation, are looking for members of our community to help provide a gift basket for a senior, not exceeding a value of $25. Please post your name and email address to the ADOPT A WOODFORD COUNTY SENIOR YELLOWJACKET 2020 Facebook page. If you have privacy concerns, you may private message Veronica Julie Parker or Kimberly Bruce Hudson with your information. Your information will not be shared. We are committed to showing our Woodford County Seniors that they are not forgotten and want to do something that could replace their sense of loss with a happy memory of how Woodford County showed up for them. Kimberly and Veronica will match up seniors with adopting members. Once matched, all parties will each receive the other’s contact information. Both parties can arrange for gift-giving while adhering to social distancing guidelines as set forth by the Woodford County Health Department. All gifts should be delivered to all participating seniors by May 31. Kimberly Hudson Veronica Parker
