Permits allowing church, residential use approved

The Board of Adjustment (BOA) unanimously approved a conditional-use permit Monday allowing Woodford Church of Christ to conduct services at 123 Big Sink Road. The church will have services on Sundays (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and Wednesdays (6 to 9 p.m.), but won’t host social functions, have food service or any outside activities and music. The BOA staff report stated 123 Big Sink Road has adequate parking for the church, which will lease the 1.7-acre property from General Enterprises of Lexington, Inc. Residential use The BOA approved a conditional-use permit allowing Brian and Tammy VanSteenbergh to use the first-floor rear portion of a building at 116 North Winter Street (in Midway’s central business district) for a residential unit. VS Salon & Spa will stay in the front portion of the building on the first floor, according to information given to the BOA. Variance for home The BOA unanimously approved dimensional variances so owner Lepore Company, LCC and applicant Donnie Perkins can reconstruct a house at 173 Macey Avenue. The front- and side-yard variances were needed because the house is a legal nonconforming structure. The two-story house will be reconstructed within its existing walls and foundation, Deni Hamilton, of Lepore Company, said. In-ground pool The BOA unanimously approved a setback variance so Donald and Jennie Rowe can construct an in-ground pool in the side yard of a residence at 215 Rose Hill Avenue. Oath of office Lonnie Estes was sworn-in to represent the City of Versailles on the BOA for the remainder of Frank Stark’s term, which ends Dec. 31, 2021.
